W. Vincent Curtis
On Sunday, July 31, 2005 the First Missionary Baptist Church of Moody, Alabama unanimously
affirmed Rev. Vincent Curtis as our next Pastor. Vincent is married to Monica and
has two children, Vincent (CJ) Curtis, II (Age
19)
and Hunter Curtis (Age
15). Pastor Curtis was also
a volunteer with Big Brother Big Sister of Alabama, where he is a big to Orlando
Bloodworth. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Omicron Lambda Chapter
where he serves as Corresponding Secretary.
Under the leadership of Pastor Curtis, First Missionary Baptist Church has established
a Step Team Ministry, Youth Finance Ministry, Children's Church and Women's Ministry.
Since coming to FMBC, the church has also created a Computer Ministry which offers
computer training to members of the church and community. Under his leadership,
FMBC has constructed a brand new fellowship hall and remodeled its old fellowship
hall and created a Education Center equipped with internet ready computers, study
area and entertainment center.
Prior to coming to FMBC Rev. Curtis served as an associate minister at Saint Joseph
Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL under the tutelage of the late Dr. Abraham
L. Woods, Jr. At Saint Joseph, Rev. Curtis also served as Youth Basketball coach,
Sunday School teacher, Computer Instructor, and Step Team Director. Pastor Curtis
is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received a Bachelor
of Science in Engineering. He grew up in Selma, AL where he attended the New Shiloh
Baptist Church, Potter Station, under the leadership of Rev. Dan Moore. Pastor Curtis
is the son of Elizabeth Allen and has one sister Latifah Allen. Much of what Pastor
Curtis has become, he credits his late grandparents Robert and Annie Curtis.
